Adventurer's Guild: Make Your Own Dragon Egg
A fantasy-themed craft activity
Every dragon story begins the same way: with something small, quiet… and easy to miss.
An egg tucked into a mountain crevice. Hidden beneath roots. Resting in the ashes of an old fire.
No one ever thinks much of it—until it hatches.
This month, you’re not just reading about dragons—you’re becoming a Dragon Keeper. Your task is to create and protect a dragon egg of your very own. But be warned: no two dragon eggs are alike. Some shimmer like treasure, others glow like embers, and a few are so well-camouflaged you might walk right past them without ever knowing.
So gather your supplies, choose your colors carefully, and start crafting. Because once your egg is complete…
You might start to wonder what’s waiting inside.
Supplies
A styrofoam egg (or more than one!)
Thumbtacks (the flat ones)
Nail polish or other paint

Final Thoughts
I really enjoyed this activity! I will say, choosing a larger egg made it take a bit longer and I needed to give my hands more breaks, but it went together very smoothly! I also ran out of tacks even though I started with 200!
I ended up leaving mine silver because it looks so cool and goes well with my black bookshelves, but in the future I might make more with colors. I might even see if they still make colored thumbtacks… oh the possibilities!
